  Additional Principal Payment Definition
Additional Principal Payment Whenever you make a monthly payment on your loan, a percentage of that payment goes towards principal and a percentage goes towards interest. If you want to reduce your balance and pay off your loan early, you can make an additional principal payment by sending additional money to be applied towards the principal of your loan when you make your monthly payment.
